V04265 is a high performance battery management system (BMS) rated to 90A continuous operation free air, protecting 4 to 16 cells in any chemistry. High current operation closer to 200A is possible with appropriate heatsinking (passive/active). The analog front-end (AFE), Maxim MAX14921,provides cell voltage data. 4 external 10 kΩ NTC thermistors are also monitored. This data is fed to the on-board microcontroller (MCU) for processing, and is communicated to the host via CAN and/or Bluetooth. Passive cell balancing operates when charging, provided that all cell voltages are above the Cell Balancing Activation Voltage.
The MCU controls a high performance array of N-channel high-side discharge and charge MOSFET’s according to the parametric data. Short circuit protection is provided for by a discrete circuit (during discharge only) as well as by software (redundant system). Fuel gauging is provided by a TI BQ34Z100 device, which is a Coulometric counter employing TI’s Impedance TrackTM technology, thereby eliminating in-service calibration.
